SCHEDULING CHECKLIST  A list of all the things you need to do to get signed up for a CTE program for the 25-26 school year with all of the important links in one place.

The Stark Career Compact is a cooperative effort of Jackson Local, Lake Local, North Canton City (Hoover), and Plain Local (Glen Oak) School Districts. This Compact was formed to give students of these districts the opportunity to attend technical/career classes offered in four districts.

The selection process for each program is a competitive one, and requires an application from the student. Students are selected for the programs based on their application and an interview with the instructor. Mrs. Marshall, CTE Coordinator from Lake, will assist you in the application process and answer any questions that you may have about the programs.

  • Career Based Intervention (CBI)

We believe all students have the ability to learn, to establish a career plan, and to carryout their career path to gain success in their lives. Career Based Intervention Programs are designed to assist students who possess barriers to career and academic success to establish a career path by using worked based learning experiences and gaining competencies to achieve a successful path to career options and post secondary training.

CBI is based on establishing key principles of higher expectations, studying the common curriculum of the school, and providing authentic learning opportunities for at risk students. Career Based Intervention is a one or two year program designed to introduce the student to the work force. Students will learn dynamics of job-search, employability factors, on-the-job relations, and job-oriented bookkeeping skills. Students will be expected to work part-time or full-time at a job site with a portion of the school day structured for such activity.

  • Job Training Coordination

    JTC - Job Training Coordination

    Program Overview:

Lake Middle High School’s Job Training Coordination program is a two-year, with the option to turn it into a four-year, career technical program starting in the junior year of high school. Job Training Coordination will assist students in solidifying a transition plan and allow for the exploration into various career possibilities. As a class requirement, students volunteer and work in the community, learning employability skills and daily living skills. Students are also encouraged to find employment during their senior year and apply their evaluations at work for a grade in class. The staff works with adult service agencies and families to ensure the student exits high school with supports in the community to enter life after graduation with needed connections.

    Program Philosophy:

The Job Training Coordination program believes that all students, regardless of their disability, are able to be successfully employed in an entry level competitive employment setting that matches their ability level and interests. The Job Training Coordination program is essential in assisting students to gain necessary and authentic experiences from life skills to employability skills prior to ever leaving high school in order to maximize the success for the student as they transition into the next phase of their life. The Job Training Coordination program is believed to help students better understand their strengths and weaknesses within their transition goals, provide an opportunity to practice necessary employability soft skills, ensure exposure and practice of basic life skills necessary to become independent, and to create realistic future goals for themselves in order to be successful in competitive employment after high school.

  • Marketing & Business Management

The Marketing and Business Management Program provides students opportunities to gain valuable experience through a variety of hands on activities and courses. Skills developed revolve around leadership, teamwork, responsibility and communication. Students in the program run and operate The Blue Streak Spirit Shop which sells to students, staff and community members. This allows them to see the ins and outs of operating a business. Each year the students in the program plan the Prom Fashion Show usually held in the Hartville Collectibles ballroom. The students learn project management through this big event and the proceeds are used for student scholarships. All students in the program are members of DECA, a student business organization, that offers competition based around business scenarios, travel opportunities and community service projects. Senior students also start small businesses in which they operate all throughout the year, compete in local competitions and have the opportunity to earn profits.

Up to 12 College Credit Plus hours can be earned through Stark State within the two years in the program.  If you’d like to learn more about the program please contact the instructor Mrs. Aja Tompot.
